Sivers IMA today announces its launch of the next generation V-band converters. Like the recently launched E-band converter, it is based on the company’s proprietary SiGe chips and offers an attractive price and performance for those who develop and market radio links and test & measurement equipment.
According to an Ericsson report * the demand for broadband and mobile network capacity will multiply significantly within the next five years, placing telecom operators under continuous pressure to provide customers with even higher capacity at lower cost. This in combination with limited natural resources in terms of frequency spectrum drives radio link suppliers to search for new solutions.
“The so called V-band is interesting since it is generally license free. The new converter and its advanced technology supports capacities of up to 10Gbps, especially targeting the small cell deployment. This is also an important first component for us in our future WiGig-solution”, says Robert Ekström CEO of Sivers IMA.
With its extensive experience and expertise, Sivers IMA is one of the driving forces behind how millimeter wave can be put to use in future telecom networks. During MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona next week Sivers IMA will be presenting this in more detail, including plans for WiGig and 5G.
